Matrix Eastern Europe, the offshore division of Matrix IT, one of the leading global R&D services companies with more than 11,000 professionals, is looking for Software Infrastructure Team Lead to join one of our teams.

We are looking for a Software Infrastructure Team Lead to join the core development team of a complex and innovative financial system built on a Microservices architecture and powered by AWS cloud.

This is a central and highly impactful role, responsible for the design, development, and implementation of cross-system infrastructure components that serve dozens of services and systems.

The selected candidate will lead an experienced development team, remain hands-on in design and coding, and take an active part in architectural decision-making. The role combines broad system-level vision with deep technological expertise and connects technological leadership, innovation, and real impact on both the system and the business value it delivers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a Software Infrastructure team, driving technical excellence, ownership, and high delivery standards.
  • Design, develop, and implement cross-system infrastructure components serving multiple microservices and business domains.
  • Take full ownership of architectural decisions related to distributed systems, scalability, resiliency, security, and observability.
  • Remain hands-on in Java development, contributing to core infrastructure code and setting engineering best practices.
  • Define and optimize cloud-native solutions on AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3) to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain infrastructure standards including logging, monitoring, service configuration, and event-driven communication (Kafka or similar).
  • Collaborate closely with architects, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate system-wide requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in Java development within an Enterprise environment and distributed systems – Mandatory
  • Proven experience of at least 2 years in technical leadership or managing a development team – Mandatory
  • Hands-on experience working with Microservices Architecture, including design, documentation, and development – Mandatory
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Step Functions, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and S3 – Mandatory
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases – Mandatory
  • Experience with Kafka or similar messaging/queue systems – Mandatory
  • Ability to design and lead cross-system infrastructure solutions (service configuration, observability, logging, resiliency, security)
  • Hands-on coding experience alongside architectural and design responsibilities
  • Experience working with Agile / Scrum methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Git
  • Strong English skills – spoken and written
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with financial or regulatory systems – Advantage
  • Strong ability to lead and motivate a high-level development team while fostering collaboration, excellence, and accountability
  • System-wide perspective with the ability to prioritize between cross-functional infrastructure tasks and direct development work
  • Advanced engineering mindset with the ability to solve complex problems in a dynamic environment
  • High proficiency in hands-on coding and integrating AI tools
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work with business stakeholders, project managers, and architects
  • Strong self-learning capability and technological initiative
