Matrix Eastern Europe, the offshore division of Matrix IT, one of the leading global R&D services companies with more than 11,000 professionals, is looking for a SAP S/4HANA Development Lead to join one of our teams!

The SAP S/4HANA Development Lead will be responsible for leading the technical development domain within client’s global ERP platform. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, innovation, team development, and delivery excellence across SAP S/4HANA initiatives, upgrades, integrations, and future transformation programs.

In this role, you will play a key role in modernizing development practices, introducing automation and AI capabilities, strengthening the existing development team, and ensuring scalable, high-quality delivery aligned with cleint’s ERP strategy. We are looking for a hands-on SAP S/4HANA Development Leader who can modernize their development capabilities, introduce AI and automation-driven efficiencies, strengthen our global development team, and support client’s next generation ERP transformation journey.

Responsibilities

Lead S4HANA development activities across enhancements, integrations, custom solutions, and strategic initiatives.
Provide hands-on technical guidance and architectural direction for development teams.
Ensure development quality, maintainability, performance, and compliance with SAP best practices.
Support future S/4HANA upgrades and transformation initiatives.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Functional Leads, Architects, PMO, and IS teams.
Drive innovation across the SAP development landscape.
Evaluate and introduce modern SAP technologies, frameworks, and tools.
Promote adoption of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), automation solutions, and AI-assisted development capabilities.
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, development quality, testing efficiency, and delivery speed.
Establish modern engineering practices and Continuous Improvement culture.

Team Development

Strengthen the professional capabilities of the existing development team.
Coach and mentor developers through hands-on guidance and knowledge sharing.
Define development standards, technical guidelines, and best practices.
Build technical competency in emerging SAP technologies and modern development approaches.
Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented environment.
Delivery Excellence
Lead development planning, estimations, resource allocation, and execution.
Support multiple parallel initiatives while maintaining delivery quality.
Manage technical risks and proactively propose mitigation actions.
Ensure effective knowledge transfer and sustainable solutions.

Requirements

5+ years of SAP development experience.
Minimum 2 years leading SAP development teams or technical delivery teams.
Proven hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA development.
Strong background in end-to-end Build activities.
Experience in manufacturing or process-industry environments.

Technical Skills

Expert knowledge of ABAP core principles – modern ABAP syntax (7.6+), OO, enhancements SAP extensibility concepts. Etc.
Excellent knowledge of performance optimization.
Strong experience with ABAP on HANA: CDS Views, AMDP.
Integration development experience.
Application Development knowledge: RESTful ABAP Programming Model (RAP), SAP Gateway, OData services, UI5.
Familiarity with SAP BTP and cloud-based development approaches.
Understanding Clean Core principles and modern SAP architecture.

Langue

Excellent written and spoken English.
Experience working directly with international business and IT teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA Upgrade programs.
Experience in SAP transformation initiatives.
Experience with SAP BTP extensions and cloud-native development.
Experience introducing AI, automation, DevOps, or modern engineering practices.
Previous exposure to global Rollout projects.
